HotSpot Engine is designed to run on off-the-shelf PC-based (x86) servers and appliances. Compared to proprietary hardware systems, using standard PC-based hardware is not only more flexible, but also more cost effective. In order to understand please consult the following tables that show the recommended hardware requirements for selecting the right hardware.

The PC does not need an operating system - HotSpotEngine installs its own operating system.
On installation, HotSpotEngine completely erases any content or data that may exist on that PC's hard drive
